Robert's What's On 2008
South Yorkshire & Derbyshire
Home Page

Welcome to my web site where you can find details of interesting places to visit in and around Sheffield, 'The Peak District National Park' and the Derbyshire Dales, England. My interests are railways and engineering so you will find that these feature strongly in the places listed with their opening times. However, there are plenty of other things to do and places to visit listed such as Stately Homes, Caverns and Caves, Well Dressings.
This may not be the fanciest of websites but this page and the links to the four pages in the table below will download quickly. Happy exploring!

Apologies for the lack of recent updates, I have been offline for a while but now I am back on.
The rest of my pages may take longer to download due to graphics in them but each one contains a link back to this Home page. When you use the Links Page you are going onto someone else's website and will need to use the 'back' button on your browser to return to my website.

The Area
The area stretches from Edale, Castleton and Buxton on the West of Sheffield down to Ashbourne, Matlock and Belper to the South of Sheffield. A useful map to have is the Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 Sheet 119 Buxton, Matlock and Dove Dale. This map covers the majority of the area with the exception of the Northern bit, which is known as the High Peak, for which Sheet 110 is required and the Chesterfield area which is covered by Sheet 120. If you are motoring then you will be able to find your way around quite happily with a road atlas but in my opinion the wealth of detail given on Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 maps and the ability to find and navigate the narrow country lanes makes them an excellent purchase.
Webmaster's Note! The area now seems to have spread North to Leeds and Doncaster and South East to Nottinghamshire. No doubt it will acquire other bits of the country when I am informed or discover other items of interest!
