Middleton Top Engine House
Working beam engine which was used to haul wagons up a rope worked incline.
Directions. A6, Matlock, Matlock Bath, Cromford, turn right at traffic lights signposted Wirksworth, in 1¼ miles turn right immediately before stone arch bridge at top of hill, in ¾ mile straight across at cross roads, pass under sloping bridge and in 300 yds. turn right at brow of hill (dangerous) Aim for chimney at top of hill.

Leawood Pump House
Working steam driven beam engine which pumps water
from River Derwent up to Cromford canal.
Directions. A6, Matlock, Matlock Bath, Cromford, turn left at traffic lights, pass Cromford Mill and canal basin, narrow bridge over river, follow road round to right, keep right at all junctions here and follow river for 1½ miles to High Peak Junction car park on right. Take path over bridge across river and railway, turn left and follow left bank of canal for 400yds.

Markham Grange Nursery and Steam Museum
Stationary steam engines in steam at Bank Holiday weekends and every Wednesday.
Large well stocked garden centre with other retail outlets.
Directions. Sheffield Parkway, M1, M18, A1(M) North, exit at second junction (A635), West ¾mile to Marr, turn right (church) and at crossroads in 1¼ miles straight across, ¾ mile to next junction bear half right to cross over A1(M) and Garden centre is on your right.

  Steam driven beam engines which raised water to supply Nottingham. Saturday steaming times 2pm to 5pm, Sundays/Mondays 11am to 5pm. Outstanding ornate Victorian architecture.
Directions. South on A60 from Mansfield, for 3½ miles to Newstead Abbey, turn left on minor road opposite Newstead Abbey entrance, pumping station in 2½ miles on right.
