Visit this
restored masterpiece of Victorian engineering and see it
operating in steam. Leawood Pump may occasionally be seen on
Sunday afternoons during July and August for static viewing 2pm -
5pm.

The pump lifts water from the River Derwent into the Cromford Canal. The pump is located 1 mile from the head of the Cromford Canal at Cromford in Derbyshire. Click for directions. When in steam, the visitor can see the pump in action providing the essential lifeblood to this once busy canal. Steam days (noon to 5 pm.) in 2008 are:

The Middleton Top Engine & Leawood Pump Group also look after the Middleton Top Engine which stands at the top of Middleton incline on the Cromford & High Peak Railway. This is only a short distance from the Leawood pump and can easily be visited on the same day.
