Take appropriate roads to Matlock Bath. This town is in Derbyshire 15 miles north of Derby on the A6. Cromford is half a mile south of Matlock. At the traffic lights, on the A6, take the B5036 signed to Wirksworth. About 1 mile up this road turn right onto the minor road signed to Middleton. At the cross roads with the B5023 go straight across. Follow the signs up the lane to the right.

The Middleton Top Engine & Leawood Pump Group also look after the Leawood Pump which stands beside the Cromford Canal near Cromford. This is only a short distance from the Middleton Top Engine and can easily be visited on the same day.
